5 Sugar-free Baby Recipes

5 Sugar-free Baby Recipes

While too much sugar isn't recommended for babies under the age of 1 - including chocolate and honey - sweet treats, snacks and desserts can be made just as tasty with a little know-how and a few natural sugar substitues!

You can sweeten pancakes, porridge and natural yoghurt with fruits such as banana, sweet potato and apple - simply steam and blend in your Nutribaby+! Sweet coconut and cocoa or cacao powder will also add sweetness without the sugar content.

Discover 5 sweet recipe ideas for a quick breakfast, easy dessert or on-the-go snack below.

Banana, Spinach Pancakes

Makes 20-25 pancakes

Ingredients

1 handful of spinach

1 egg

1 banana

90g plain flour

1 cup milk (cows or plant-based)

1 tsp baking powder

1 heap spoon of coconut melted (for cooking the pancakes)

Optional Ingredients

1 tsp blue spirulina

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp vanilla extract

Method:

  1. Blend all ingredients together in Nutribaby(+) - pulse until well combined or until you no longer see flecks of spinach.
  2. Warm a non-stick pan over a medium heat and add the coconut oil. Pour small rounds of batter into the pan (probably 2 at a time) and let the first side cook until small bubbles form on the top.
  3. Flip and cook the other side for 1-2 mins until they take on a bit of colour. Serve or let cool and store in the freezer. Use within 2 months.
